The Mechanic role is to maintain all district vehicles to ensure they operate properly and in a state of excellence that present no problems or interruptions to the educational programs of the district.

Essential Functions

 

Physical Requirements - Must be physically able to operate a variety of diagnostic equipment applicable to the industry.  Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must have the ability to move around and stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time.

Intelligence - Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define/diagnose problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in verbal or diagrammatic form and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  

Language Ability – Must be able to communicate and be understood by supervisor and co-workers.  Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, technical manuals, trade journals, etc.

 

Sensory – Must be able to visually or otherwise access written and printed content, and respond both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to understand and respond to the verbal expressions of others. 

 

Verbal Aptitude - Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively.  Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence. 

 

Attendance - Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year
