Description

Provide Dyslexia intervention program to students with characteristics of Dyslexia and who meet eligibility guidelines. Administer screeners and assessments for characteristics of dyslexia and report results to school personnel, parents, etc.  Work with general education teachers to insure appropriate accommodations for students are implemented.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement the District Dyslexia program at the campus level ensuring that Federal, State and District policies/guidelines are followed and in compliance.
  • Provide direct services in the area of reading/dyslexia: assessment, identification, interventions, technology and progress monitoring.
  • Work with campus staff so that appropriate classroom accommodations are provided for students identified with dyslexia.
  • Provide a written report of student’s dyslexia test results.
  • Implement the District Response to Intervention Model specific to students identified as Tier II and III.
  • Review and interpret data to determine appropriate RTI student groups and their need for instructional intervention.
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies/techniques and technology to meet the needs of Tier 3 struggling students including those identified with dyslexia.
  • Maintain all necessary student records required by the dyslexia program.
  • For students referred for dyslexia, dyslexia intervention specialist will attend Section 504/SPED meetings for the purpose of reviewing assessment results, progress, and provide recommendations.
  • Member of the District SWAT for DIBELS testing beginning, middle, and end of year.
  • Attends training as needed for keeping abreast of current research and best practices.
  • Adheres to all district and school systems, protocols and policies.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics as set forth by the Arkansas Department of Education.
