Assistant Superintendent of Operations
Reports to Superintendent
Purpose Statement
The Assistant Superintendent of Operations works directly under the leadership of the
Superintendent to oversee the directors of departments supporting curriculum and instruction
although not directly linked to them. These departments would typically include Facilities, IT,
Construction, Security, Transportation, Cafeteria Services and/or others depending upon the
Superintendent’s assessment of the individual’s skill set and experience.
Required Qualifications
Education: Possess a graduate degree in Educational Leadership or other closely related area.
Licensure/Certification: Possess or be able to obtain a standard Arkansas teaching license which includes licensure for superintendent and/or assistant superintendent.
Experience: Previous administrative experience in a supervisory position.
Residency: Must reside or relocate within the boundaries of the Marion School District
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership or other closely related area.
Licensure/Certification: Possess a standard Arkansas teaching license which includes licensure for superintendent. Possess CASBO and CFD certifications.
Experience: At least five years of superintendent/assistant superintendent experience.
Essential Functions:
Language: Must have adequate expressive and receptive English language skills, to be able to communicate with and be understood by coworkers, receive their responses and respond to them appropriately. Must be able to read and recognize appropriate traffic and warning signs and instructions.
Sensory:Must be able to visually or otherwise access written and printed content, and respond verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to understand and respond to the verbal expressions of others, often in a noisy environment with multiple speakers and background noise, or outside.
Movement: Must have the ability to move around inside on hard surface and industrial carpeted surfaces, and to travel at a brisk, walking pace relatively long inside distances, without needing to stop or rest.
Attendance: Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
Cognitive: Must be able to conform behavior to that which is socially accepted as being appropriate to an adult and positive role model. Must have knowledge and compliance with relevant state and federal laws governing education. Must have good executive functioning skills sufficient to ensure timely and accurate compliance with detailed federal, state and local record keeping requirements. Must be able to exercise good judgment.
