The Video/Audio Specialist will support the district’s work to communicate and promote the mission, values, and activities of the Marion School District. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be experienced in the effective and efficient use of a broad range of communication platforms, including video filming and editing, audio systems, and graphic design. Candidates should have strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, proficiency in computers and software applications, and general knowledge of school activities, including athletics. The Video/Audio Specialist will report to the Director of Communications. Pay is commensurate with experience and education.
Job Responsibilities
- Create videos promoting student groups and school activities. This will include conceptualizing, shooting, and editing the videos to final production.
- Create video commercials promoting sponsors of the district’s livestream video service (Marion Patriot Activities Network/MPAN). This will include conceptualizing, shooting, and editing the commercials to final production.
- Shoot video at school functions for use on social media or other platforms.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the audio systems at venues across the district, including each school, the Marion Performing Arts Center, and the various athletic facilities.
- Set up audio and provide audio support at school functions.
- Set up and manage livestream broadcasts of school activities via the district’s livestream video service (MPAN).
- Coordinate music at pep rallies or other school events as needed.
- Design graphics for video projects, MPAN projects, social media, and other district communication projects.
- Manage the district’s camera drone, providing drone video and photography as needed or requested.
- Manage the audio/video inventory for the district’s Communications Team, overseeing the repair and replacement of equipment as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in video production
- Experience in management of audio systems
- Proficiency with a broad range of computer software, including the Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Communications Team and district administration to respond to ongoing challenges
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with school district staff and members of the community
- Excellent multitasking skills and ability to handle multiple requests from different individuals and departments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and growth mindset
Requirements
- Must submit two examples of videos the applicant has shot, edited, and produced
- Must submit two examples of graphic design projects the applicant has created
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
- Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must have the ability to move around and stand on hard surfaces for long periods. Must have the ability to climb steps to elevated platform
- Must have valid driver’s license
- College degree in related field preferred but not required
