Description

Marion School District has an opening for a district Speech Language Pathologist position. 

Successful applicant must meet the following requirements:

 

Education:  Master's Degree

 

Experience:  Two to four years related experience as a Speech Pathologist preferred

 

Certification & License:  To be considered an applicant should currenly hold, or currently be eligible for a valid Arkansas Teacher's License with certification as a Speech Language Pathologist.

 

Certified Position Summary:  Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that help restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to disabled students.

 

Certified Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform educational assessment of students, including an observation of the student, review of the student’s educational history, conferences with the student’s teachers, and an evaluation and analysis of the student’s academic performance and learning characteristics.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct speech therapy programs in schools, institutional or community settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems.
  • Test and evaluate students' physical and mental abilities and analyze data to determine realistic rehabilitation/therapy goals for students.
  • Select activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.
  • Evaluate students’ progress and prepare reports that detail progress.
  • Complete and maintain necessary records.
  • Ensure that required reports, educational assessments, and findings are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in the deliberations and classification of educationally disabled students and assists in the planning of Individual Educational Programs (IEP).
  • Acts as a liaison with the classroom teacher(s) for the purpose of ensuring the implementation of the established IEP of an assigned student.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the IEP.
  • Maintains confidential records on all referred students and student/parent contacts in accordance with federal and state law, Board policy and the procedure of the District’s special education program.
  • Assess student readiness for entry in the school program in accordance with policies established by the Board of Education.
  • Provide thorough and timely reports, data, and information as requested.
  • Consult with the appropriate school personnel directly responsible for the implementation of the IEP for disabled students.
  • Serve as a resource and/or consultant to school personnel on the nature, causes, and solutions to the learning problems of children.
  • Other duties as assigned.
